What is Dog Listening?

Wolf Pack body languageLike their ancestors the wolves, domestic dogs are pack animals driven by the instinct to survive. Domestic dogs instinctively understand and follow the same strict code of hierarchy and ritualized behavior as do wild canines.  Domestic and wild dog’s instinct dictates that in order for the pack, and each member in it to survive,

THE PACK MUST HAVE A CAPABLE

AND DEPENDABLE LEADER

Dogs can only ever be dogs, they cannot understand the world in which we live, they do not think like a human and they cannot speak our language.

We can understand how a dog thinks and we can speak their language

The domestic dog’s pack consists of anyone living in the home. Problems begin when we unintentionally give our dogs mixed messages regarding pack leadership.

We either unwittingly place the job of leader onto our dog, or we create a situation where the dog has no choice but to assume the role of pack leader.

Can your dog do this job in the world in which WE live?

Can your dog do this job in a world it does not understand?

It is the stress of this delegated or assumed role of leadership that can manifest as what we humans term “behavioural” problems in our dogs.

Dog Listening is a holistic approach to living and working with the dog’s own natural instinct, to convince it that YOU are best equipped to lead its pack.
When you implement Dog Listening, your dog will willingly elect you leader (decision maker), thus allowing it to be a happy, calm, contented, relaxed and stress free member of your pack.

Dog Listening is not a training method.  It is a unique and natural way of communicating with your dog. It allows you to be equipped in any situation, to respond in a way that your dog understands.

Dog Listening does not use force, fear, pain, devices or drugs and no pressure is placed on the dog.  On the contrary, Dog Listening encourages the dog to make choices of its own free will.

Dog Listening is natural canine communication - and it is universal.
